Feelmonumental

The Westerkerk is a unique building, imposing in height and radiantly lit. A historic location in the centre of Amsterdam, suitable for both large and small events. The monumental sandstone pillars, the arches and the organ that towers high above the entrance form a breathtaking backdrop.

It is therefore not surprising that the Westerkerk is a popular location for a variety of events such as dinners (up to 350 people), receptions, conferences, concerts, presentations, fairs and fashion shows. The centuries-old Westerkerk gives your event the desired atmosphere and class. The facilities in the church building (heating, sound and lighting) are of course very extensive and of an international standard.

History

The Westerkerk was designed by Hendrick de Keyser and built between 1620 and 1631 on behalf of the Amsterdam city council. The building was not the first church in Amsterdam, but it was the largest built as a Protestant church.
The Westerkerk is built in Dutch Renaissance style and has the shape of a double cross. A striking feature of the church is the bright, untempered sunlight that falls through 36 large windows from all sides (the church is completely free). This "light effect" is further enhanced by the white walls inside the church.
